Somehow my ID card case got lost in Atlanta (a 12 hour drive from where I am), and my military ID was in it.
If you have military ID, when you renew it (or you can just go and renew it right away) tell them to not display your SSN on your card. It’s safer. It will say “SSN on file.”

I had a worse experience. I once went to get my car and it was gone. My car was towed because somebody had stolen my identity and gotten tickets in my name! I had to pay $960 to get my car out of the pound and was never reimbursed.
